The competition for the best image in homes is no longer limited to the classic showdown between OLED and Mini LED. Now a new layer appears in the high-end: LCD TVs with RGB-based backlighting that aim to elevate color quality and light control.
In this context, Sony presented its True RGB proposal, and Albert Gracia, Commercial Director of Sony Iberia, was clear in defining the position of the new BRAVIA 9 II: “We position it above OLED.”
During a presentation focused on RGB technology 2026, Gracia explained that True RGB is not just another label, but a different way of handling backlighting. The key lies in the independent control of each red, green, and blue diode, allowing for greater precision in intensity and color purity.
This translates into concrete promises for demanding users: more color volume, better gradation, and finer handling of each scene.

Sony launches True RGB in two models for Spain
The company does not stop at technical promises. In the Spanish market, the technology arrives with two models from the 2026 line: the BRAVIA 7 II, which expands the presence of True RGB, and the BRAVIA 9 II, which represents the most ambitious bet in image quality.
Gracia emphasized that the BRAVIA 9 II is not just the top of the RGB family, but the television that Sony considers its current maximum exponent in visual performance. “We believe it is the one that can currently provide the best image quality,” he stated.

This stance is reinforced by directly comparing it with the brand's own OLED models, such as the BRAVIA 8 II. Sony maintains both technologies in its catalog but places the BRAVIA 9 II on a higher tier within its hierarchy.
The initial market reaction is very positive, with a level of pre-orders across Europe that pleasantly surprises, according to the executive.
