The national government deepens the strategic relationship with India with the aim of expanding bilateral trade, attracting new investments, and generating opportunities for key sectors of the Argentine economy, within the framework of the roadmap agreed upon between President Javier Milei and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Foreign Minister Pablo Quirno received Indian Secretary of Commerce Rajesh Agrawal on Monday, along with Bettina Bulgheroni, president of the Inter-American Council of Commerce and Production (CICyP), and representatives from the so-called G6 business group.

During the working lunch, the parties advanced on the guidelines defined by Milei and Modi to diversify the exchange between both countries and deepen cooperation mainly in energy, mining, agribusiness, and technology.

The agenda will continue this Tuesday with the IV meeting of the Argentina-India Joint Trade Committee and a Business Forum that will bring together entrepreneurs from both countries at the San Martín Palace. The goal will be to advance in concrete projects of trade and investment and strengthen the bilateral Strategic Partnership.

The rapprochement also had news from the private sector. A delegation made up of 23 entrepreneurs from the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) visited the Buenos Aires Grain Exchange and signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Indian Argentine Business Council to promote new businesses and investments.

During the meeting, the president of CIARA-CEC and the Indian Argentine Business Council, Gustavo Idígoras, highlighted that Argentine exports to India grew by 37% during 2025 and that the exchange left the country with a trade surplus of over US$4 billion.

One of the main sectors with room to continue growing is agribusiness, which is already at a historic record. Argentina established itself during 2025 as the main supplier of vegetable oils to India, mainly soybean and sunflower, while local entrepreneurs believe there is still room to further increase exports.

In parallel, the private sector proposed moving towards a free trade agreement between Mercosur and India, with the aim of reducing barriers and expanding access for Argentine products to one of the largest markets in the world.

The new round of negotiations is part of Milei's government strategy to deepen Argentina's international insertion and open markets for the private sector, taking advantage of the existing complementarity with a rapidly expanding Indian economy.
