Patricio's spiritual rebirth, Susana Giménez's brother: new name and a book

Susana Giménez's brother spoke with Teleshow about his healing process, his identity, and his search for meaning

In the midst of the pandemic, Patricio Giménez found more than just peace in Laguna Garzón, Uruguay. Amid the silence of the countryside and the company of his dog Rumba, he began to undergo a deep process of inner transformation. It was there that Antes de ser feliz was conceived, the book with which he broke his silence and presented himself to the world from a new place: no longer as Patricio, but as Augusto, his true first name.

Far from the media persona and the singer who once lived in Miami after being invited by Julio Iglesias's producer, the artist stripped away the noise to reveal his most intimate side. The name change was not an aesthetic gesture, but a symbolic act filled with memory and meaning.  "Augusto was my father's name. Moreover, it's also a deeper, quieter place," he explained in an interview with Teleshow.

The weight of the past, the spiritual quest, and the value of silence

In his book, Augusto recounts key moments from his childhood, especially the death of his father when he was just 11 years old and the illness his mother later endured. Those events marked the beginning of an existential search that led him to explore Eastern religions, ancient philosophies, and new ways of understanding pain.

He confessed that for years he wondered if "God was good," and that he did not find answers in his culture of origin. It was the East, and contact with other worldviews, that offered him new tools. "I started looking at other philosophies. The East gave me tools. Without realizing it, I was building a personal map," he said.

Today he defines himself as a pantheist. He believes that everything is God, that there is no separation, and that good and evil are not absolute truths, but human interpretations. He also changed his relationship with death, which he stopped fearing and began to consider as a teacher that puts everything in perspective.

Transformative journeys and a love that doesn't interrupt the silence

Aware that his process is no longer just individual,  Augusto began to organize a project for 2026 aimed at sharing deep experiences. He plans to undertake spiritual journeys to destinations such as India, Egypt, Machu Picchu, and the Camino de Santiago. "It's not for tourism. It's to live real, transformative experiences," he clarified.

Through his social media, he already invites those who are in tune with him to join. "After so much inner work, I felt the need to open the path outward," he said.

In terms of relationships, he also allowed himself a different kind of openness.  He shared that he is getting to know someone who doesn't seek to complete or fill him, but to accompany him. "She doesn't interrupt my silence. She accompanies it. She is a very loving presence. That is valuable," he said.

That relationship, however, did not come to bring peace but to challenge it. Amid laughter, he acknowledged: "This is like my test because I can control a little more what happens inside me."

The most moving tribute of all was for his dog Rumba, to whom he dedicated the book. For him, she was not just a pet, but a spiritual guide:  "She taught me to inhabit the present. To be in the here and now. She is an example of unconditional love."  She accompanied me in the most important moments of this transformation."

Thus, with an ancestral name, a painful story transformed, and an open path toward spirituality, Augusto—the man behind Patricio Giménez—redefines his identity and lends his voice to those who also seek healing.
