Córdoba will implement artificial intelligence to strengthen urban surveillance
With the 'Red Vigía' program, private cameras will be integrated into the province's police system
The Ministry of Security of Córdoba has introduced a new phase of the "Red Vigía Córdoba" program, aimed at the incorporation of artificial intelligence. Through this tool, private security cameras will be integrated into the provincial Police's video surveillance network. The goal is to optimize monitoring through automatic alerts triggered by facial recognition and license plate reading.
The initiative was announced this Friday by Minister Juan Pablo Quinteros, together with Police Chief Leonardo Gutiérrez. Authorities from the Chamber of Commerce of Córdoba and representatives from companies such as Makro, Cordiez, Libertad, and Cencosud also participated. The presentation took place as part of a meeting with key figures from the commercial sector.
According to the details provided, the new system will allow for expanded monitoring coverage in key areas such as shopping centers and supermarkets. Additionally, the aim is to improve the response to crimes recorded in Córdoba and surrounding areas. The direct connection to the 911 central office will be crucial for the operation of this technology.

Public-private coordination in the new security framework
The program incorporates AI to identify faces and license plates in real time within the official system. This information will be automatically sent to 911, speeding up the police force's response. The measure aims to strengthen control without the need to increase human resources.
"With this new technology and the legal framework provided by Law 10.954, we are seeking to enhance the security system by working together with the private sector," Quinteros stated. Meanwhile, the Chamber of Commerce supported the measure and expressed willingness to cooperate. The dialogue with major chains seeks to facilitate the implementation of the system.
The use of private cameras will allow for expanded coverage without installing new public devices. Participation in the system will be voluntary and will be managed through Red Vigía's central software. With this decision, the Province seeks greater integration with the existing infrastructure.
