The Syrian president has survived three assassination attempts since he took office.

It is suspected that the assassination attempts against Ahmad al-Sharaa were organized by the Islamic State

Interim Syrian President, Ahmad al-Sharaa, has been the target of at least three assassination attempts since he assumed power seven months ago, following the offensive by various rebel groups that led to the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime, according to several reports from Arab and Israeli media outlets.

According to these reports, the first assassination attempt, which occurred in March, was thwarted thanks to the intervention of Turkish forces, who detected suspicious movements as the president was leaving the People's Palace.

Presidential security acted immediately, neutralizing the alleged striker, who was detained and interrogated. At al-Sharaa's own request, the incident was kept secret in order to project an image of strength and the absence of enemies.

The second attempt, considered more elaborate, took place during an official visit to Daraa province, near the Jordanian border. Members of the elite personal guard, made up of Syrian and Turkish agents, identified two suspicious individuals, which forced a last-minute change to the presidential convoy's route.

The third attack was recent and came close to being carried out. Sources indicate that an armed individual was waiting for al-Sharaa on a route believed to be used by the president as he left the palace in Damascus. Although the details have not been fully clarified, the incident sparked speculation about a possible sudden escape by the president from the Syrian capital.

The United States ambassador to Türkiye and special envoy for Syria, Thomas Barak, made unusual statements on the matter. He publicly acknowledged the existence of serious threats to al-Sharaa's life and expressed the growing concern of the U.S. government for his safety.

Barak called for the urgent formation of a specialized unit tasked with protecting the president, and emphasized that United States intelligence services rely heavily on information and cooperation coming from Türkiye.

Although no group has formally claimed responsibility for the attacks, it is suspected that the three assassination attempts against President Ahmad al-Sharaa were carried out by Islamic State (ISIS). Questions remain about how their operatives managed to infiltrate Damascus and gain access to explosives.
