Terrible injury in Honduran football: a player suffered a severe fracture that left his ankle hanging.

The Honduran football community was shocked by the serious injury suffered by Romario Da Silva during the match between Motagua and Olancho FC, in the triangular matches of the Clausura Tournament. The Brazilian winger suffered a luxation-fracture of the fibula in his left leg in a play that generated scenes of strong impact both on and off the field.

The unfortunate incident occurred at 55 minutes into the match, when he was contesting a ball with Marlon Ramírez. The Brazilian lost his balance due to the inertia of the run and, in the fall, his left foot got stuck in the grass and his ankle was completely dislocated, which required immediate medical intervention. The severity of the injury was evident from the very first moment: several players could not hide their distress and some even broke down in tears upon seeing their teammate lying on the grass.

After being immobilized on the field, Da Silva was transported to a health center in Juticalpa, where the first X-rays confirmed the diagnosis. He was then referred to Tegucigalpa to undergo a surgical intervention, while the doctors assess whether there are additional ligament injuries.
