The death of Alex Pretti, a left-wing anti-ICE agitator, which occurred on Saturday, January 24, 2026 in Minneapolis, once again highlighted the actions of far-left groups that operate in a coordinated manner to interfere in federal immigration operations and foster violent riots in different cities in the United States.
The incident took place during a procedure carried out by agents from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP), in the vicinity of a restaurant located in Minneapolis. At that location, federal forces were attempting to arrest José Huerta Chuma, a dangerous illegal immigrant with a serious criminal record.
According to what became known later, a group of left-wing activists appeared in the area and actively intervened in the operation to try to defend the criminal. Among them was Pretti, who had arrived minutes before the confrontation. The demonstrators began to confront and attack the federal agents, creating a situation of growing tension.

Images recorded on video show the presence of agitators who used whistles to alert other illegal immigrants to the presence of federal forces. In that context, Pretti ended up being shot dead by the agents after confronting them while he was armed with a handgun.
Beyond the specific incident, the episode exposed the organized far-left network made up of socialist groups, communists, and Marxist-Leninists, which played a central role both beforehand and in the hours following the shooting.
