Google is preparing to launch its new Pixel 10 in August, and many of its technical specifications have already been revealed. Leaks point to major changes in the cameras and targeted improvements in battery, display, and performance.
The inclusion of a new telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom completely changes the camera system of the base model. Although some specs are lower, Google is betting everything on its renowned computational photography.

Camera changes: fewer megapixels, more intelligence
The main sensor would go from the Pixel 9's 50 MP to a 48 MP one, the same as the Pixel 9a. The ultra wide-angle also drops significantly, from 48 to 12 MP.
The big news is the 10.8 MP telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom, which already appeared in the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. It will also be used for macro photography, which explains the cuts in other lenses.
Google trusts its image processing
Despite the hardware reduction, the final photo quality is expected to improve thanks to software processing. The Pixel "a" models have already shown that it's possible to get the most out of smaller sensors.
