The Government of Javier Milei announced that this week various protocol activities will take place related to the arrival and presentation of the first six F-16 fighter jets acquired by the Republic of Argentina, as part of the comprehensive modernization plan for the Defense System.
The incorporation marks a turning point for the Armed Forces, which in recent years have sought to recover critical operational capabilities for the surveillance and control of airspace, after decades of neglect and destruction by Kirchnerism.
The official schedule announced by the Ministry of Defense will begin on Friday, December 5, when Minister Luis Petri will lead the formal reception ceremony for the aircraft.

According to the ministry, this event represents "a strategic milestone that consolidates the recovery of supersonic interception capability and strengthens the defense of national airspace." This is the first batch of F-16s from the bilateral agreement signed months ago, whose objective is to reconstitute the capabilities of the Air Force.
The agenda will continue on Sunday, December 7 with the main operational presentation event. On that day, President Javier Milei, accompanied by Petri and by authorities from the Armed Forces, will preside over the official ceremony at the Río Cuarto Material Area, in the province of Córdoba. The activity is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m.
Low-altitude flight in Buenos Aires City
Before that ceremony, on the same Sunday, an activity especially designed for the general public will take place: a low-altitude flight of the F-16s over the City of Buenos Aires, between 8:00 and 8:45.
The Ministry of Defense detailed that the initiative will allow "Argentines to witness the deployment of these aircraft, which represent a historic leap in the country's deterrent capability."

According to the information provided, and always subject to favorable weather conditions, the aircraft "will be arriving from the northwest, coming from the Río Cuarto Material Area, over the Río de la Plata to fly at 2,000 feet (609.6 meters) in altitude, from East to West, over Casa Rosada and Avenida de Mayo up to Plaza Miserere." Then, they will follow a second route: "they will fly over Avenida 9 de Julio from South to North, until reaching the Río de la Plata."
The F-16s have undergone a modernization process that places them within the fourth-generation fighter standard, with advanced sensor systems and enhanced real-time data sharing capabilities.
In addition, they are equipped with a state-of-the-art electronic warfare system that improves their survivability in hostile environments and with a weapons package that enables multirole use. Among the missions they can carry out are air defense, suppression of enemy air defenses, maritime attack, air interdiction, close air support, and surveillance and intelligence operations.
With this incorporation, Milei's Government seeks to once again place the Argentine Air Force at operational standards comparable to those of other powers, thus marking a significant advance in military modernization and in the national defense strategy.
