The Government of Javier Milei has formalized a key move within the institutional framework: the appointment of Cristian Auguadra as the new head of the State Intelligence Secretariat (SIDE). The decision was announced minutes after midnight on Wednesday, marking the completion of the first stage of the restructuring of the National Intelligence System, a process that now enters a phase focused on technical and operational modernization.
The announcement also marked the departure of Sergio Neiffert, who was responsible for leading the initial phase of the agency's transformation. According to the Executive, Neiffert achieved the goal of "organizing internal processes, auditing and making the organizational structure more transparent, optimizing resources, and updating operational standards", accomplishments that laid the foundation for a "more efficient and professional" service.

The entire process received the formal validation of the Bicameral Commission for the Oversight of Intelligence Agencies and Activities of the Honorable National Congress, which approved the 2023-2024 Management Report and declared the first phase concluded.
With legislative approval and the support of President Milei, presidential advisor Santiago Caputo—the main strategist behind the Government's communication and power structure—moved forward with the appointment of an official he deeply trusts: Cristian Auguadra, a certified public accountant with experience in auditing, risk management, institutional strengthening, and public administration. Until his appointment, he served as head of Internal Affairs of the Secretariat.
