Amid the growing outrage over the government of Axel Kicillof due to recent security incidents in the suburbs, the Minister of Security of Buenos Aires, Javier Alonso, rejected the criticisms against his management and accused the national government of promoting a "strategy" to place the issue of crime on the public agenda.
During an interview with Antonio Fernández Llorente on C5N, Alonso stated that the administration of Javier Milei seeks to regain a connection with its electorate through discussions about security and described the criticisms from residents regarding the increasing insecurity as “cynical”.
“The Government is realizing that it is falling apart and then they start looking for issues where they try to reconnect with their electorate,” affirmed the Kirchnerist official, denying the validity of the neighborhood mobilizations.
According to Kicillof's minister, there was a “strategic decision” to place insecurity at the center of public debate. “They are misinforming, manipulating what is happening”, he assured.
