The right-wing Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni celebrated on Friday that her Government has become the longest-serving in the history of the Italian Republic.
In a message posted on her X account, the Prime Minister stated: “Today our Government becomes the longest-serving in the history of the Italian Republic. This is a fact that I welcome with gratitude and a strong sense of responsibility”.
Meloni avoided presenting the record solely as a political achievement and emphasized the importance of continuity in an Executive. “Because stability is not a record to showcase, but the condition that allows a Nation to plan, decide, uphold commitments, and earn respect”, she noted.

In her management assessment, the Prime Minister listed various areas where her Government has worked over the years. She mentioned employment, reducing unemployment, supporting families and businesses, security, public finances, and Italy's international positioning.
“In these years we have worked to increase employment, reduce unemployment, support families and businesses, strengthen security, manage public finances seriously, and restore Italy's weight and credibility on the international stage”, she asserted.
However, Meloni acknowledged that there are still pending issues. “The results are there, but we know well how many things are still left to do”, she stated.

The Italian leader also sought to emphasize that the continuity of the Executive does not solely depend on her figure. In this sense, she attributed the result to the unity of the coalition governing the country and the existence of shared objectives.
“This stability is not the merit of a single person. It is the result of a united coalition, which has governed for four years with a common vision and has chosen to be together not against someone, but to realize a project for Italy”, she expressed.
Meloni also took the opportunity of the record to reclaim the role of the right in Italian republican history. “I do not think it is a coincidence that, starting today, the three longest-serving Governments in republican history are all center-right governments”, she stated.

According to the Prime Minister, political stability depends on the members of an alliance sharing principles and objectives. “Stability is built when an alliance shares values, goals, and a vision for the Nation, not when the only reason to be together is to prevent others from governing”, she maintained.
Finally, Meloni attributed the continuity of her Government to the citizens who supported her coalition in 2022 and emphasized that this support should not be interpreted as permanent. “A trust that we have never considered a blank check and that we will never take for granted”, she affirmed.
The right-wing leader anticipated that next year they will present themselves again to the citizens to showcase what has been accomplished and their future plans. “And once again, it will be they who decide if we deserve to continue this path”, she concluded.
Meloni closed her message by reaffirming the continuity of the Executive's work and anticipating her participation in Bari with the Brothers of Italy community: “Forward, with our feet on the ground and our eyes directed to the future”
