The Granada Court began this week the trial with a popular jury for the double murder of Los Yesos, a case that shocked Spain in April 2022 due to the brutality of the events and the profile of the victims: a 47-year-old woman, former councilor of the Partido Popular, and her partner, 61 years old.
Four young men between 22 and 32 years old are in the dock: two Spaniards and two illegal Moroccans. For the latter, identified by the Prosecutor's Office as the direct perpetrators of the murders, a sentence of permanent reviewable imprisonment is being requested. All four are charged with crimes of murder, sexual assault, illegal detention, violent robbery in an inhabited house, illegal possession of weapons, and bodily harm, all aggravated by the use of disguises and balaclavas.

According to the Public Prosecutor's Office, the accused planned the assault days in advance. The objective was to steal everything of value in the farmhouse. On the afternoon of the crime, they met to finalize the plan and left for the property equipped with machetes, a revolver, a homemade pistol, gloves, duct tape, and balaclavas. They forced a window around 7:00 p.m. and waited inside the building for the victims to return.
When the owner arrived, he was attacked, subdued, and tied up. The assailants beat and tortured him, demanding money. Minutes later, the woman arrived, who was also immobilized. According to the accusation, two of the young men sexually assaulted her while the other two witnessed the scene without intervening.
