Leandro Depetris was arrested for allegedly being the perpetrator of a shooting at the home of a woman who had reported drug traffickers and police corruption
The Argentine Federal Police carried out a large-scale operation in Rosario that resulted in the arrest of Leandro "Monta" Depetris, 26 years old, member of Newell’s barrabrava. The young man had been a fugitive for five months and is under investigation as the perpetrator of the shooting that took place on May 7 at the home of Norma Acosta, on Larguía 3400, who had repeatedly reported drug trafficking activities in the area.
For the same incident, Nicolás R., 18 years old, was also charged, accused of transporting a minor to the scene of the attack. According to the prosecution, the teenager was the one who fired at least five shots at Acosta's house. Both allegedly acted under the promise of receiving a sum of 200,000 pesos (440 pounds).
Depetris faces charges of "aggravated use of weapons due to the involvement of a minor, as a completed act and as a co-perpetrator, in real concurrence with unlawful possession of a military firearm." The judge ordered effective pretrial detention.

The procedure was ordered by Prosecutor Pablo Socca and carried out by the Federal Operational Unit Division (DUOF) of Rosario, under the Superintendency of Federal Investigation Agencies. The main raid was conducted near Alem and 27 de Febrero, with support from the Federal Territorial Intervention Tactical Unit Santa Fe.
Meanwhile, two other operations were carried out in the southern area of the city, resulting in the arrest of another person and the seizure of three cell phones, which will be examined to establish links with other violent incidents.
The Public Prosecutor's Office confirmed that the investigation remains in the instruction stage and further arrests are not ruled out. In addition, a businessman identified as the alleged financier of the organization faces charges of money laundering, aggravated fraud, and illicit association. The judiciary is considering freezing his bank accounts and restricting his ability to leave the country.
Previous complaints
The victim of the attack, Norma Acosta, recalled that three months earlier she had reported police officers for corruption and did not rule out that the shooting was related to that complaint. According to her account, prior to the shooting she had received direct threats against her family: "They even mentioned my grandson in one of the messages," she stated.
She also reported that her son was detained on several occasions by the police and released shortly thereafter, which reinforces the hypothesis that the attack may have been retaliation for her accusations against corrupt officers.
