Deschamps was asked about a player who doesn't exist and explained how to neutralize him.

In the context of the UEFA Nations League, the France coach was asked about a fictional player and surprisingly replied on how to counter him

The coach of the France National Team, Didier Deschamps, had a curious moment during a press conference when he was asked about a player who doesn't exist.

In the UEFA Nations League quarterfinals, the "Gallic" team seeks to reach the semifinals in their match against Croatia, whom they will host this Sunday at 4:45 PM, Argentina time, after having fallen 2-0 in the first leg as visitors.

During the pre-match, Deschamps caught everyone's attention by responding about a certain Baleglawic, a non-existent Croatian footballer. A journalist asked him: "Aren't you afraid to see the young Baleglawic starting tomorrow night? He's having a great year in 2025. Do you have any plan prepared to counter him?" In response to this question, the coach confidently replied: "We know all the opponents."

After his firm response, the world champion coach with France in 2018 added: "If you know who the Croatian starters are, I'm interested. I won't know until tomorrow night." He also explained: "We monitor the opponents, and according to the information we can pass on to the players, everyone on the list could be on the field at some point, starting or coming in."

Germany, Denmark, and Croatia take the lead in the Nations League

The first leg matches of the League A quarterfinals had the re-edition of three World Cup finals: Spain - Netherlands, France - Croatia, and Italy - Germany.

The first match between Spaniards and Dutch, who faced each other in the South Africa 2010 final, ended in a 2-2 draw. Nico Williams and Mikel Merino scored for the current Nations League and Euro Cup champions, while Cody Gakpo and Tijani Reijnders scored for the "Clockwork Orange."

Meanwhile, France and Croatia relived the Russia 2018 final. This time, the first leg of the quarterfinals ended in favor of the Croatians, managing to win 2-0 with goals from Ante Budimir and Ivan Perisic.

The last final that was re-edited was Italy - Germany, the same duel as in Spain 1982. Sandro Tonali put the "Azzurra" ahead, but the Germans turned the result around with goals from Tim Kleindienst and Leon Goretzka, sealing a 2-1 in their favor.

The other quarterfinal match was Portugal - Denmark. Cristiano Ronaldo's team, which had already been champion in the 2018/2019 edition, fell 1-0 at home to the Danes with a goal from Rasmus Hojlund.

All the return matches of the mentioned ties will be played this Sunday at 4:45 PM, Argentina time, and will determine the qualifiers for the tournament semifinals.
