Thieves ran over and killed an 11-month-old baby during a robbery

After being run over, the 11-month-old baby died in the hospital, while her mom remains in critical condition

The  chaos  and insecurity  that plague the province of Buenos Aires added a new tragic chapter this Friday, March 28.

Sofía Hinze, a baby just eleven months old, died after being run over  by fleeing criminals in the neighborhood of Pablo Nogués. Her mother, Natalia Susana Heizenrreder, 41 years old, is fighting for her life in the local hospital.

The chain of events that ended Sofía's life began with a violent home invasion in Ricardo Rojas, Tigre district. Three criminals intercepted a woman driving a Volkswagen Golf, took her money  and stole her Jeep  Renegade model. Minutes later, the cameras detected the vehicle and a police chase  began.

Far from surrendering, the criminals opened fire on the officers while fleeing. An innocent young man was injured  with a gunshot to the ankle before the assailants reached Pablo Nogués.

At the intersection of Marie Curie and Morse, the thieves lost control of the Jeep and crashed into  a Fiat Punto. The impact was brutal; Sofía and her mother, who were walking on the sidewalk, were run over.

The doctors did everything possible, but the baby did not survive. Her mother underwent surgery  and is in serious condition.  One of the thieves, Rodrigo Lucas Moreyra, 35 years old, was arrested just twenty blocks from the crime scene. The Scientific Police found a weapon  in the stolen truck, while the other two criminals remain at large.

The investigation is led by prosecutor José Amallo, who charged Moreyra with robbery, assault and resistance to authority, weapon abuse, injuries, and homicide.

The crime was similar to Kim's in La Plata | La Derecha Diario

The horror experienced by the Hinze family recalls the brutal murder of Kim Gómez, the seven-year-old girl who was killed a month ago in La Plata after being run over by two teenage criminals fleeing in a stolen car.

The autopsy confirmed that Kim suffered a "hypovolemic shock secondary to polytrauma", with "multiple fractures and drag injuries". Two minors were arrested for the crime: one 17 years old, a repeat offender in vehicle theft, and another 14, whose father is imprisoned for armed robbery.
