The Spanish Civil Guard arrested this Sunday three illegal Moroccan immigrants for attacking a military patrol with Molotov cocktails in the San Amaro area of Ceuta.
The incident occurred in a sector close to the coast where the Spanish Security Forces maintain a control device.
Fortunately, none of the military personnel were injured during the attack. The assailants used bottles with corrosive liquid and were located shortly after the incident thanks to the permanent surveillance deployed in the area.
Illegal Moroccan immigrants
The episode raised particular concern due to the reiteration of attacks against the Spanish Armed Forces in the autonomous city. This is the third incident of this nature recorded in less than 72 hours, in a succession of violent episodes that heightened alert among security forces and military authorities.
After being arrested, the three illegal Moroccan immigrants were placed at the disposal of the judiciary. The new attack adds to other incidents that occurred in recent days involving undocumented Moroccans.
From the Spanish Troops and Navy Association (ATME) and unions such as JUPOL, there were renewed calls for measures to strengthen the legal and operational protection of military personnel performing security duties in the city.
“We urgently request the recognition of the high-risk profession and the authority of our military personnel so they can carry out their work and functions with the necessary legality and legal protection,” they explained.

They added: "Unfortunately, we have to see how it seems that the military are the target to be hit alongside the National Police and the Civil Guard, who are doing a titanic job to restore security and normalcy to the Spanish city of Ceuta.”
Other attacks by Moroccans
The sequence of events began during the week. On Wednesday, a group of Moroccans was arrested after throwing stones at a military vehicle and injuring some military personnel.
Subsequently, on Saturday, another four undocumented individuals were arrested for a new attack against military personnel. In those episodes, several injuries were reported and some of the detainees were expelled from the country.
The attack that occurred this Sunday once again highlighted the security situation in Ceuta and the serious circumstances prevailing in the area following the migratory invasion.
