Torres files a complaint against a judge for ordering coverage of a feminization surgery
Torres expressed his rejection of the judicial decision, arguing that the intervention involves a million-dollar expense
The governor of Chubut, Ignacio "Nacho" Torres, announced that he will file a complaint against the Family Court judge of Sarmiento, Santiago Martín Huaiquil, after he ordered the provincial social security Seros to cover 100% of a comprehensive feminization surgery.
Torres described the ruling as a "demagogic, irresponsible, and ignorant" decision and warned that this type of resolution puts the provincial health system at risk.

Controversy over the coverage of a cosmetic surgery
Through his social media, Torres expressed his rejection of the judicial decision, arguing that the intervention involves a million-dollar expense that even exceeds the cost of some cancer treatments.
"These judges believe they can rule anything without considering financial or economic feasibility, and that is a huge risk for all Chubut residents," stated the governor. He also recalled that when he took office, the provincial social security had a deficit exceeding $6 billion and that his administration has worked to balance its accounts.
Details of the ruling and the ordered surgery
The judge's resolution obliges Seros to cover a procedure that includes multiple cosmetic interventions, among them:
- Facial feminization
- Forehead contouring
- Rhinoplasty
- Blepharoplasty
- Brow lift and canthopexy
- Facelift
- Genioplasty and jaw contouring
- Facial fat transfer
- Hospital coverage and medical fees
Torres emphasized that these surgeries do not correspond to a mandatory service within Seros's offerings, and warned that his government will review all injunctions and judicial rulings that demand coverages that, in his view, are not within the services that the social security should assume.

A judicial and financial battle
The governor made it clear that the complaint against the magistrate is part of a broader strategy to prevent judicial decisions from affecting the sustainability of the provincial health system.
"From day one, we said that whenever we encountered a bottleneck that threatens the province's development, we would fight all necessary battles," stated Torres.
Finally, the governor emphasized that this is not an ideological debate, but a discussion about rights and obligations within the health system.
