Toto Caputo: 'We are going to have 24 reformists to lower taxes across the entire country'

In an atmosphere of enthusiasm and consolidation of the economic course, Economy Minister Luis "Toto" Caputo was one of the central figures at the event led by the Fundación Faro —the think tank linked to La Libertad Avanza headed by Agustín Laje— and from there he made a high-voltage political announcement: the national government will promote the creation of a committee of 24 reformists, one for each province, with the goal of replicating the fiscal efficiency and tax reduction policies that characterize Javier Milei's model.

"Today, from the Foundation, we're here to fight that battle, and what has been planned is to set up a committee of 24 reformists, one for each province, who will work together with the party presidents in each province," Caputo explained, who emphasized that the measure seeks to transfer to subnational governments the transformation program that is already beginning to yield results at the national level.

According to his explanation, the team will be coordinated by economistFelipe Núñez and will be tasked with designing strategies to reduce the tax burden, eliminate unnecessary regulations, and make the operation of provincial and municipal governments more efficient. He stated that the goal is clear: to reduce the Argentine cost, open the economy to competition, and directly benefit citizens.

"It's going to be the only way to reduce the Argentine cost, open ourselves to competition, and have this generate a benefit for all Argentines," Caputo assured before an audience made up of leaders, businesspeople, and libertarian figures.

The minister did not hesitate to highlight differences with opposition governors, especially with the provincial administration in Buenos Aires: "Today, above all, we're fighting against those governors and mayors who go the other way, who are the Kirchnerists. Starting with Buenos Aires province, which, far from taking advantage of the revenue resulting from the economic growth caused by Milei's model to lower taxes, increases them. It's a titanic task," he warned.

In addition to outlining an economic diagnosis, Caputo delved into the ideological axis that runs through the current administration. In line with the presidential discourse, he described the left as a failed and destructive project: "At least economically, the left is terrible at governing. There is ample empirical evidence that the only thing the left generates is poverty, misery, death, inequality. It's truly unbelievable that they can survive so many failures," he stated.

He added a strategic key to understanding their permanence: "They survive because they're very good at fighting the cultural battle. Just as we must not let our guard down economically, we must not let our guard down in this cultural battle."

In that sense, Caputo concluded his participation by quoting one of the flagship phrases of the libertarian movement: "Culturally, everything is going according to plan," he said, in clear reference to the ideological progress that, together with fiscal success, constitutes the heart of the political project led by President Javier Milei.
