Toyota Motor Corporation confirmed on Tuesday a mega investment of 912 million dollars aimed at expanding its production capacity in the United States, a decision that comes just days after its CEO, Akio Toyoda, made a striking political gesture during an automotive event in Japan.
There, the company's leader appeared wearing a T-jersey with the “Trump-Vance” logo and a red cap with the slogan “Make America Great Again,” symbols associated with U.S. President Donald Trump and his political movement.
The show took place on Sunday at the Fuji Speedway circuit, at an event organized by Toyota that recreated the aesthetics of U.S. NASCAR. According to Automotive News, the day featured prominent guest drivers, an audience waving United States flags, and the presence of the U.S. ambassador to Japan, George Glass.

The diplomat even shared photos on social media with Toyoda, celebrating the collaboration and anticipating future activities as part of the festivities for the 250th anniversary of the U.S. scheduled in Japan.
Toyota's investment in the United States
The CEO of Toyota announced his new investment package, which is part of the broader commitment to allocate up to 10 billion dollars in U.S. territory by 2030. This plan had been anticipated last month by Donald Trump, who stated that the project will strengthen the automaker's industrial presence in the country. According to the official schedule, most of the work will be completed by 2027.
The initiative focuses on the expansion of vehicle production and hybrid engines in the southern part of the country, a category in which Toyota already leads the market with more than 51% share through the third quarter of the year, according to Motor Intelligence data.

Within the new package, the largest investment, 453 million dollars, will be allocated to the Buffalo plant in West Virginia, with the goal of expanding production of four-cylinder engines suitable for hybrid systems. In addition, 204.4 million will go to the Georgetown, Kentucky, plant to strengthen the manufacturing of the same engines.
Other resources will be distributed among various facilities: 125 million to increase Corolla production and add hybrid versions in Blue Springs, Mississippi; 71.4 million to expand operations in Jackson, Tennessee; and 57.1 million for the Troy, Missouri, plant.
