The UEFA Nations League final between Spain and Portugal was marked by a tragedy that shocked European football: a fan died after falling from the upper tier of the Allianz Arena in Munich, into the press area.
The incident occurred during extra time of the match, which created an atmosphere of consternation at the very end of the game.

According to local media, the fan fell from a considerable height, prompting a swift response from security teams and paramedics present at the stadium. The police cordoned off the area and an ambulance arrived immediately, but the fatal outcome could not be prevented.
In the post-match press conference, the coach of the Spanish national team, Luis de la Fuente, confirmed the death of the supporter: "Before we begin, allow me to extend our condolences to the family of a fan who has passed away. Unfortunately, this is what makes us realize what is truly important in life. From here, our deepest sympathy".

The tragedy overshadowed a match that was supposed to be a celebration of European football, serving as a reminder that beyond the spectacle, safety and human life must always be the top priority.

Hours later, UEFA issued a brief statement confirming the incident without providing further details: "There was a medical emergency at Munich Arena and despite the doctors' efforts to save his life, the person sadly passed away at 00:06. Our thoughts are with his loved ones during this difficult time".
