A serious traffic accident occurred this Friday in Gregorio de Laferrere, La Matanza district, when a truck transporting animal tallow collided with a bus from line 180. The accident resulted in two women dead, several passengers injured, and one victim who suffered an arm amputation.
The crash, which was recorded by a security camera, left shocking images, with injured people on the sidewalk and the truck's load scattered on the street.
Fatal crash at a busy intersection
The accident took place at the intersection of Route 21 and Cristianía Avenue. According to initial reports, the line 180 bus was traveling with the green light when it was hit on one side by the truck, which apparently ran the red light.
"The bus was coming along Route 21 and entered a bay on the avenue to turn back toward the Villegas neighborhood. From the opposite direction, heading from Ciudad Evita to Laferrere, the truck loaded with animal tallow was coming and they collided", a witness of the event recounted.
The impact was so strong that the truck veered off its path into a ditch, destroying a bus stop along the way.
Fatalities and serious injuries
The chief of the Laferrere Volunteer Firefighters, Damián Díaz, provided details about the magnitude of the accident.
