Donald Trump threatened Iran's Ayatollah to negotiate a nuclear deal
The U.S. president revealed that he sent a letter to Ayatollah Ali Khamenei of Iran.
The President of the United States, Donald Trump, revealed that he sent a letter to Ayatollah Ali Khamenei of Iran, as he mentioned during an interview broadcast this Friday by Fox Business News, in which he stated that he had written to the Iranian leaders.
"I wrote them a letter saying: 'I hope you negotiate because if we have to intervene militarily, it will be something terrible'", Trump explained. He later added that he had sent the letter "yesterday" in the interview, which was recorded on Thursday.
The White House supported Trump's statements, confirming that a letter had been sent to the Iranian leaders to initiate negotiations on a nuclear agreement. Trump made these comments in an interview that will be broadcast in full on Sunday.
"I would prefer to negotiate an agreement. I'm not sure everyone agrees with me, but we can reach an agreement that would be as good as if it were won militarily", Trump commented. "But the time is coming. The time is approaching. Something is going to happen one way or another".

The Iranian news agency IRNA disseminated Trump's comments, citing the broadcast. However, there was no immediate response from Khamenei's office, who is 85 years old and has the final say in state matters.
The negotiation with Hamas
The President of the United States also made another important decision this week: he gave the green light to a secret negotiation between his special envoy Adam Boehler and the Hamas terrorist leader, Khalil al-Hayya.
The goal is to achieve the release of all hostages, both alive and dead, who are still being held in Gaza. This contact took place this week in Doha, Qatar, without any other leader, including the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, being informed.

"We are helping Israel in those talks, because we are talking about Israeli hostages. We are not doing anything in relation to Hamas. We are not giving cash", Trump stated, and added: "Negotiation is necessary. There is a difference between negotiating and paying. We want to get these people out".
Trump is determined to close this chapter of the hostages definitively. According to Israeli sources, there are 24 living hostages and 35 dead, although Trump's main objective is Edan Alexander, the only American-origin hostage still alive. Additionally, four other hostages have died following Hamas's attack on Israel on October 7, 2023.
