As always, without considering the users left stranded, the Unión Tranviarios Automotor (UTA) confirmed the implementation of a nationwide bus strike for 24 hours in Córdoba starting at 00:00 this Friday, August 14.
The strike will affect urban and interurban transportation of short and medium distance in all provinces of the interior of the country, including Córdoba.
The decision was confirmed by the National Executive Council of the union after negotiations with business chambers in the context of the National Ministry of Labor failed.
From the UTA Córdoba branch, they indicated that, unless last-minute changes arise, there will be no urban bus service throughout the day on Friday in the provincial capital.
Union demands and strike
The central conflict lies in the existing wage gap between drivers in the interior and those in the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area (AMBA). The union demands that workers in the provinces receive the same salary increase that has already been agreed upon for drivers in the federal capital and the Greater Buenos Aires area.
According to union spokespersons, the negotiation table has been without responses or concrete offers for over 90 days to restore purchasing power. The specific request is for the incorporation of fixed amounts into the base salary.
