Transportation: Due to ride-hailing apps, ticket sales in Córdoba have dropped sharply
The situation of urban passenger transportation in the city of Córdoba remains very complicated
As a result of the emergence of ride-hailing apps, which foster healthy competition and offer a cheaper alternative for users, the situation of urban passenger transportation in the city of Córdoba remains very complicated.
This situation has now been confirmed by the sharp drop in ticket sales, in addition to an increase in costs.
The outlook was summarized by Fetap's vice president and at the same time a representative of the company Coniferal, Gustavo Mira, one of the service providers in this capital.

"Since the ticket price rose to 1,580 pesos ($1,580) on May 30, daily ticket sales have dropped by around 20%," he illustrated.
Causes of the drop in ticket sales in Córdoba
The businessman considered that the decline was mainly due to the increase in ticket prices, but the decision to migrate the payment system to the Sube card, which currently coexists with Red Bus, also played a role.

"The higher cost of travel and the changes in the payment system, which always create some complications for users, led to the decrease in ticket sales," Mira said. He also added that the general economic situation, with reduced consumption, is causing many users or workers to stop using the bus.
Apps like Uber, Cabify, and DiDi are gaining ground
Meanwhile, he recalled that the emergence of ride-hailing apps like Uber, Cabify, or DiDi has taken more than 5% of passengers away from the system, in addition to the fact that many have chosen to buy a motorcycle, which is very affordable today, to commute to work or a specific destination.
"To give an idea, last year, Coniferal was in charge of corridors 1 and 6. This year, it also added corridor 4. However, daily ticket sales remained at about 200,000, even with one more corridor," he explained.
He also recalled that in the 1990s, monthly ticket sales were about 20 million, and today they barely reach around 12 million.
"The system has improved compared to a few months ago in terms of frequency and fleet condition, but it remains in a critical situation," he assured.
