Trump's administration offers one thousand dollars to all immigrants who self-deport
This measure will generate a 70% savings compared to the average cost of arresting, detaining, and deporting an illegal immigrant
The Donald Trump administration launched a new program aimed at motivating illegal immigrants to return to their countries of origin. Those who are illegally in the United States and decide to self-deport will receive a financial reward of $1,000, according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The DHS explained that immigrants who use the CBP Home application to notify the government of their desire to return to their country will not be considered a priority for detention and deportation by immigration authorities, reducing the chances of being arrested while processing their departure from the country. According to Department of Homeland Security officials, self-deportation is a "dignified way" to leave the country, thus preventing immigrants from being detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.
