The opposition wanted to squander billions of dollars on benefits for illegal immigrants
The President of the United States, Donald Trump, signed on Wednesday night the bill that ends the longest government shutdown in the country's history, which lasted for 43 days, following strong extortion by the Democrats in support of illegal immigrants.
The measure was approved hours earlier by the House of Representatives with 222 votes in favor and 209 against, with the majority support of Republicans and a small group of Democrats.
The agreement allowed the federal government to reopen after a political standoff that had paralyzed much of the activity in Washington and left hundreds of thousands of federal workers without pay.

After signing the legislation, Trump addressed the nation from the Oval Office, where he took the opportunity to criticize the Democrats for the shutdown and set the political tone ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.
In his speech, the president stated that the leftist opposition used the shutdown as an economic extortion tool to try to provide free health care and education to illegal immigrants in the country.
“During the last 43 days, Democrats in Congress shut down the government of the United States in an attempt to extort American taxpayers out of hundreds of billions of dollars for illegal immigrants," Trump declared. "Today, we send a clear message that we will NEVER give in to extortion.”

The president also urged voters to remember the episode when they go to the polls next year. "“I just want to tell the American people that you shouldn't forget this when we get to the midterm elections and other things," he said, adding: "“Don't forget what they've done to our country.”
From the White House, the message was reinforced on social media, where it was posted: "“For 43 days, Democrats shut down the government, trying to take billions of dollars from taxpayers for illegal immigrants. Today's message: Republicans won't give in.”
With Trump's signing of the bill, the U.S. government resumes its full functions after more than six weeks of institutional paralysis caused by the Democrats.
