President Donald Trump revealed that a cargo ship from South Korea, the HMM Namu, was attacked by Iran this morning and invited South Koreans to join his international coalition to secure the Strait of Hormuz against Iranian terrorism.
An explosion and fire were reported in the Namu, which has the Panamanian flag and is owned by the South Korean company HMM. The vessel, which has a crew of 24 people, was anchored near the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and was inside the Strait of Hormuz at the time of the incident.
No casualties have been reported so far.“The government will continue to communicate closely with the relevant countries in connection with the incident and will take the necessary measures to ensure the safety of South Korean ships and crew members in the Strait of Hormuz,” the South Korean Foreign Ministry said of the fact.
