Trump launches his National Artificial Intelligence Plan with support from Silicon Valley

The president is driving the deregulation of the sector, with a combination of innovation, geopolitics, and cultural battle

President Donald Trump will present his Artificial Intelligence Action Plan this Wednesday, a national initiative that redefines AI development in the United States. The strategy includes  deregulation of the sector, incentives for the technology industry, and an explicit fight against what he calls "progressive algorithms".

The plan seeks to reverse the regulatory framework promoted by Joe Biden, by facilitating the construction of data centers, reducing state controls, and easing technology exports. The focus will be on removing bureaucratic obstacles and curbing what the administration considers an ideological imposition in intelligent systems.

An event with key Silicon Valley figures

The official presentation will take place at an event organized together with the Hill and Valley forum and the All-In Podcast, led by entrepreneurs such as David Sacks, Jason Calacanis, Chamath Palihapitiya, and David Friedberg. Sacks, former PayPal executive, currently serves as head of AI and cryptocurrencies at the White House and was one of the main drafters of the new plan.

Trump is expected to sign new executive orders that promote private AI development and limit state interference. Measures will also be included to stimulate the global competitiveness of American tech companies, while reinforcing the rejection of "woke" systems.

From neutrality to ideological confrontation

During his first term, Trump had adopted a neutral approach to AI, prioritizing investment without imposing a strict regulatory framework. However, the new plan marks an ideological shift, framing AI as a field of cultural and political dispute.

The administration accuses Biden's management of having given in to a logic of political correctness that stifled innovation. Now, Trump seeks to position his technology policy as part of his broader symbolic battle.

Silicon Valley: from critic to strategic ally

The renewed relationship with powerful Silicon Valley figures was central to Trump's electoral victory in 2024. Elon Musk, Marc Andreessen, and David Sacks not only financially supported his campaign, but also contributed to the narrative design of the technology program.

Musk even offered digital infrastructure for the campaign, and his social network X amplified the message against "progressive AI". At the January inauguration, executives such as Zuckerberg, Bezos, and Tim Cook occupied prominent seats, in a scene that contrasted with the tensions of 2017.

A dispute over power in the AI era

Beyond the technical aspects, the AI Action Plan proposes a paradigm shift regarding who controls the technology of the future. Meanwhile, Biden proposed an active role for the State, Trump is betting on private sector leadership aligned with his values.

At stake is not only economic supremacy against China, but also the ethical and political definition of artificial intelligence in the years to come.  Silicon Valley, once a progressive stronghold, emerges as the new stage for that battle.
