Tension in Eastern Europe escalated again after the incursion of 19 Russian drones into the airspace of Poland, an act that Warsaw described as a deliberate act of aggression. The devices were shot down with the help of several European countries under the coordination of NATO.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk confirmed that there were 19 airspace violations over seven hours, with drones even reaching hundreds of kilometers (miles) from the border. The most concerning aspect was the route of the devices: for the first time, several entered from Belarus, Moscow's military ally.

Tusk warned parliament that Poland is going through a critical moment, closer than ever to open conflict since World War II.
