President Donald Trump reiterated this Tuesday his warning to place Washington, D.C. under federal control in response to the growing wave of youth crime and street violence occurring in the nation's capital.
On his social network Truth Social, Trump denounced that youths as young as 14, 15, and 16 years old, many linked to gangs, are attacking, robbing, and shooting innocent citizens, while enjoying a lenient justice system that releases them almost immediately.
If local authorities do not take effective measures, his administration will have no choice but to assume federal control of the city, the president confirmed. He also made a specific call to D.C. officials to begin prosecuting minors for violent crimes as if they were adults starting at age 14 and to imprison them "for a long time."

Elon Musk also supports federal intervention.
The trigger for the situation was the brutal assault on Edward Coristine, a young former employee of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) who was savagely beaten when he intervened to protect a woman who was being harassed by a group of teenagers.
Elon Musk, former head of DOGE, confirmed that Coristine was attacked while he was trying to prevent a woman from being assaulted inside her car. "It's time to federalize D.C.," the businessman declared, supporting the proposal for federal intervention in light of the inaction of local authorities.
