Violence in Argentine soccer has once again delivered a heavy blow, this time far from the major venues. The victim was Jonathan "Corto" Smith, Lamadrid's central midfielder, 35 years old, with an extensive career in Primera C, who was attacked with a car key to the head.
The incident occurred Wednesday night at Gimnasia y Esgrima de Villa España club, located in Berazategui, during a girls' U16 youth match. According to police reports, at the intersection of 33rd and 150th streets, a violent fight broke out between parents and players, which led to a mass confrontation.
When the Berazategui Patrol Command arrived at the scene, they found Smith with a deep wound on his forehead, caused by a vehicle key embedded in his skull, which resulted in a fracture. His 16-year-old daughter also suffered blows and minor injuries, and both were taken to Evita Pueblo Hospital, a few kilometers from the club.
