Morena has revealed that it wants to impose a dictatorship in the style of Cuba in Mexico. These are not minor or isolated incidents. This time, it was the party's general secretary, Carolina Rangel, who did not hesitate to defend the Castro tyranny.
In a statement that has caused controversy, Rangel stated that "Cuba is not a dictatorship", thus dismissing the countless reports of repression and human rights violations on the island.

International organizations have extensively documented the situation in Cuba. Human Rights Watch points out that the regime imposes a repressive system that punishes practically any form of dissent, a direct legacy of Castroism.
Amnesty International has also denounced restrictions on freedom of expression, arbitrary detentions, and the persecution of activists and human rights defenders.
Repression has been increasing. According to the Cuban Observatory of Human Rights, there were nearly 4,000 repressive actions in 2023, including arrests and political harassment. In the first half of 2024 alone, there were 229 attacks against journalists and activists.
