Fito Páez returned to the Buenos Aires stages with a special show at the Movistar Arena to officially present his latest studio album, Novela. However, what was supposed to be a night of celebration ended up generating strong criticism, boos, and an unexpected atmosphere of tension between the artist and some of his followers.

The concert took place on May 21 and was mainly focused on the songs from the new album by the Rosario native. The problem was that a large part of the audience expected to hear more classics from his career and ended up visibly uncomfortable during several moments of the performance.

After the concert, various videos began to go viral on social media showing the reactions of many spectators inside the stadium. In some of the most commented recordings, several people could be seen using their cell phones while Fito performed songs from Novela: some were checking social media, others were reading messages, and there were even those browsing news portals during the show.

But the tensest moment came when part of the audience began to whistle and boo the musician in the middle of the show. According to reports, the discomfort arose because a large portion of the attendees were unfamiliar with the lyrics of the new repertoire and expected a greater presence of the singer's historical hits.

Despite the subsequent criticism, the musician had made it clear from the beginning what the artistic proposal of the concert would be. From the moment the tickets went on sale, it was announced that the show would focus on the complete presentation of Novela.

In fact, a day before the concert, Fito posted a video on Instagram personally explaining the idea behind the show. “And I said: Thursday is going to be Shine. What if on Wednesday I say goodbye to Novela at the Movistar? Why not?”, he shared about the decision to modify the usual repertoire.

The decision to perform Novela in its entirety and in chronological order forced a last-minute reorganization of the entire production of the concert. According to the musician himself, the change generated tension within his technical and artistic team, responsible for adapting the visual setup designed by Sergio Lacroix.

“I called the whole team, boom boom, everyone shaking... general panic attack... and in the end, everyone loved it,” he recounted with laughter. He also explained that the show would serve as a conceptual farewell to that album before starting a new artistic phase with Shine, the album he will release soon.

Aware that many fans were expecting to hear historical songs from his repertoire, Fito tried to reassure the audience before the concert. “Afterward, we will play for over an hour the songs that we all know and want to sing too,” he promised.

However, for several attendees, the wait was too long, and the discomfort ended up growing inside the stadium.
