Political leaders from around the world issued a wave of statements on Thursday praising the President of the United States, Donald Trump, for having achieved that Israel and the terrorist group Hamas accepted the first phase of his peace plan.
"I welcome the news that an agreement has been reached on the first stage of President Trump's peace plan for Gaza," said British Prime Minister Keir Starmer in a statement. "This is a moment of relief for everyone, but particularly for the hostages, their families, and the civilian population of Gaza, who have suffered unimaginably over the past two years," he added.
French President Emmanuel Macron, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, and UN Secretary-General António Guterres also issued statements in line with Starmer's remarks. Each of these European leaders highlighted Trump's work.

Washington celebrates the ceasefire
The White House initiative was well received in Washington. Speaker of the House Mike Johnson praised the peace plan and described it as "a truly historic achievement". Israeli President Isaac Herzog released a statement on his social media thanking everyone who took part in this effort.
"I wish to extend my deepest gratitude to President Donald Trump for his unbelievable leadership in securing the release of the hostages, ending the war, and creating hope for a new reality in the Middle East," Herzog commented. "There is no doubt that he deserves the Nobel Peace Prize for this. If he visits us in the coming days, he will be received with immense respect, affection, and gratitude by the people of Israel."
The Palestinian Authority, the body that controlled the Gaza Strip until power was seized by Hamas in 2007 and currently governs parts of the West Bank, gave its approval to the peace agreement and considered it a "prelude to achieving a permanent political solution". President Mahmoud Abbas praised Trump and all the mediators.
More and more world leaders are joining together to ask the committee in charge of awarding the Nobel Peace Prize to bestow such a distinction on the American president. In recent hours, Argentine President Javier Milei joined in, stating that any other world leader with such achievements to their name would have already received this prize long ago.
