Sports journalist Sofi Martínez replied firmly and calmly to the criticism made by Yanina Latorre, who claimed that she was "overrated" and that her popularity was mainly due to her status as an influencer.
During an interview on the streaming show Ya fue todo, Sofía avoided directly confronting the LAM panelist, but defended her career in the media: "That's fine. I respect her. She can say whatever she wants." she said. She added: "Those are opinions. She's fully entitled to say whatever she wants."
In that same space, the reporter reminded her that Latorre had also questioned the role of many women in sports programs, suggesting that they were chosen for their appearance rather than their professional ability.

In response, Martínez was clear: "I admire many women who hold important roles in sports journalism. We have to keep growing, little by little. There are many who are doing a great job so that more girls, who watch the shows on TV, dream of having a place in sports journalism."

Beyond the clash with Latorre, Sofía also addressed another topic that has impacted her professional life: the rumors that romantically linked her to Lionel Messi during the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
"What people make up is crazy and, professionally, it affects my work and involves my credibility," she said in an interview with La Nación, where she was also asked about her relationship with Diego Leuco. "At this moment, we're not together. Diego and I care for and admire each other. When we decided to separate, we talked about it. Communication is key for a couple," she explained.
Regarding the rumors with figures such as Marcos Ginocchio or Pablo Aimar, Sofía stated: "They also said I was dating Marcos. I took a photo with Aimar, whom I admire, and they made up a story. Just as it had happened to me before with Messi."
The journalist was categorical in questioning the media focus that often falls on women in sports media: "It's cruel. When the pattern repeats, I wonder if it has to do with the machismo that still exists: people talk about gossip and not about my professional performance."
