A young woman entered a school in Mendoza armed. She fired shots and is barricaded inside.

An extremely tense and panic-stricken situation is unfolding this Wednesday in Mendoza, where a 14-year-old girl entered her school armed and fired at least three shots into the air. According to police sources, the student entered the premises with a firearm, discharged the shots, and then took refuge in the school's courtyard. At this time, there are no reported injuries.

The incident took place at Marcelino Blanco school, located in the department of La Paz, at around 9:30, just as students were returning to class after the first recess. Witnesses stated that the young girl went to the bathroom first and came out of there with the loaded weapon. At that moment, she briefly pointed the weapon at some classmates.

In response to the incident, school authorities acted quickly and decided to evacuate the building as a precaution. According to initial reports, students were taken to La Paz Hospital and parents were called to pick them up from the site.

The teenager, who is in her second year of secondary school, lives in La Paz and is the daughter of a police officer from the province of San Luis. For this reason, it is presumed that the weapon used, reportedly a 9-millimeter caliber pistol, belongs to her father.

The case is being handled by the juvenile criminal prosecutor of La Paz, Griselda Digier, who is at the school attempting to convince the young girl to hand over the weapon and surrender.

The Incident and Kidnapping Resolution Group (GRIS) was also called in, and together with police officers and judicial representatives, they immediately went to the school. Officials from the General Directorate of Schools and the Ministry of Security and Justice also arrived at the scene.

By 11:30, GRIS specialists and the prosecutor had already begun a mediation process with the teenager. According to reports, the goal was to persuade her to leave the premises without endangering her safety.

According to testimonies collected by the local press, the young girl reportedly stated that she would not agree to negotiate "until Professor Raquel comes in." The Mendoza Ministry of Security asked the public not to approach the educational institution in order to safeguard "the safety and respect for the minor." In an official statement, they emphasized the need to exercise extreme caution and avoid any external interference that could complicate the situation.

"The crisis committee is working with professionals and specialist teams. In this context, any external alteration or deviation from protocols could have serious consequences. The precautionary principle compels us to exercise the utmost care," they stated.

They concluded: "It is essential to maintain a framework of respect. Responsibility and cooperation are appreciated to ensure the safety of the operation."
