The national oil company surpassed 200,000 barrels per day of shale oil for the first time, an 82% increase since December 2023

YPF achieved a new record in Vaca Muerta by reaching 200,000 barrels per day of shale oil produced exclusively by the company, a historic leap that consolidates its leadership in the development of unconventional resources. This achievement represents 82% growth in less than two years, an unprecedented pace for the local industry.
When Horacio Marín assumed the presidency of YPF in December 2023, shale oil production was around 110,000 barrels per day. Since then, under a deep transformation strategy, the company has nearly doubled its own production, driving the Argentine energy sector to levels that bring it closer to the major producing powers.
Technology, efficiency, and a new way of operating

YPF's CEO highlighted that the record achieved is a direct result of a structural transformation: "Reaching 200,000 barrels per day is not just a productive achievement, but the reflection of a deep change in our way of operating."
This change is based on three pillars:
Digitalization and advanced technologies, such as RTIC, artificial intelligence, and predictive analysis tools, which have made it possible to optimize resources and improve decision-making.
Continuous improvement methodologies, with the implementation of the Toyota Well based on the TPS system, which has enabled faster timelines, cost reduction, and maximized efficiency.
Operational excellence in Upstream, with results-oriented teams, technical integration, and collaborative work among strategic areas.
The combination of these factors allowed YPF to increase its own production without compromising costs, maintaining more stable, safe, and competitive operations.
Vaca Muerta as the country's energy engine
Within the framework of the 4x4 Plan, YPF set out to transform Vaca Muerta into Argentina's energy and economic engine. Reaching 200,000 own barrels per day is concrete evidence that this goal is advancing steadily.

The growth of shale oil not only strengthens YPF's position as the country's main producer, but also contributes to:
increasing crude oil exports,
generating foreign currency,
creating quality jobs,
driving regional development in Neuquén and areas of influence,
and boosting investments for key energy infrastructure.
The new milestone marks a turning point in the company's history and in the consolidation of Vaca Muerta as one of the most dynamic oil hubs in the world.
