The Democratic representative for California and a fervent anti-Trump activist, Eric Swalwell, has been accused of sexually abusing a woman who worked for his campaign.
The woman, who began working for the congressman in 2019 when she was 21 years old, told the San Francisco Chronicle that “Swalwell began to persecute her” and that he sent her photos “of her genitals”. The victim also stated that, at another time, Swalwell “tried to kiss her in his car”, and that he “asked her to perform oral sex”.
It should be remembered that Swalwell is married and is 17 years older than the victim. In a statement, the representative of California - who seeks to be governor of the state and had announced his candidacy for that position a few months ago - described the accusations as “false” and noted that “for almost 20 years” he has served “as a prosecutor and congressman and has always protected women
.”
“These accusations are false and come on the eve of an election against the favorite for governor,” Swalwell said. “For nearly 20 years, I have served the public, as a prosecutor and congressman, and I have always protected women. I will defend myself with the facts and, when necessary, I will take legal action,

The Democrats let go of his hand
Despite these statements, the Democratic Party has begun to abandon Swalwell in light of the facts being accused of him. Senator Rubén Gallego, from Arizona, stated that he was withdrawing his support for the candidate in the elections for governor
of California.
“I have read the San Francisco Chronicle report and I take it seriously,” Gallego wrote on his social networks. “What is described is indefensible. The women who presented their stories deserve to be listened to with respect, not questioned or dismissed.”
The former Speaker of the House of Representatives and Democratic leader, Nancy Pelosi, has also asked the congressman to resign his candidacy for governor of California. “The young woman who has made serious accusations against Congressman Swalwell must be respected and listened to,” Pelosi said in a statement.
Even the California Teachers Association, a union known for its extreme left positions, withdrew its support for Swalwell to be the state's new governor this Friday night. Democratic representative Eric Swalwell was accused of sexual abuse and his candidacy for governor of California is in danger
