President Donald Trump and the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, announced this Sunday that an official peace agreement has been reached between the United States and Iran and that the Strait of Hormuz will be reopened immediately for commercial transport. The signing of the agreement is expected to take place on Friday, June 19, in Switzerland.
This historic achievement comes after peace talks were on the verge of derailing due to attacks launched by Israel in Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, in response to terrorist attacks by Hezbollah on the border between the two countries. The Iranian regime had previously threatened to retaliate, accusing the United States of giving Israel the green light to carry out the attacks.
However, the Pakistani Prime Minister later announced that an agreement had been reached and that, after "intense discussions," the parties declared a cessation of hostilities and military operations on all fronts, including Lebanon.

The statement from Trump and Sharif announcing the peace
"The agreement with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete. Congratulations to everyone! I hereby fully authorize the toll-free opening of the Strait of Hormuz and, simultaneously, I authorize the immediate lifting of the naval blockade by the United States. Ships of the world, start your engines. Let the oil flow!", Trump posted on his social media platform Truth Social.
