A high-ranking official in the communist mayor of New York's government, Zohran Mamdani, attempted to meet with the Iranian regime's ambassador to the United Nations and was stopped by the Trump administration.
Commissioner Ana María Archila, head of the Mayor's Office for International Affairs, was scheduled to meet with the Islamic regime official, Amir-Saeid Iravani, on July 7 at 11 a.m. According to the media outlet City Journal, two other senior officials from Mamdani were also expected to attend the meeting.
The Trump State Department learned of the meeting and had to urgently intervene to have it canceled. Subsequently, federal authorities met with the municipal government to "clarify acceptable conduct" in such conflicts. For his part, Mamdani denied having knowledge of the scheduled meeting, while his office merely stated that "this meeting did not take place and will not take place."

Archila is a far-left activist with no experience in the diplomatic field, who received this important position in international affairs as a political reward. Although the mayor has washed his hands of the scandal, the truth is that he has filled his administration with ideological figures like this one.
In fact, the Office of International Affairs had already been discovered promoting an internal directive coming from Mamdani himself that ordered staff to prioritize diplomatic engagement with foreign officials aligned with leftist ideology.
Fortunately, the White House detected this clandestine operation in time and quickly put an end to it. In the U.S. and in any country where its institutions function properly, municipal authorities cannot conduct their own foreign policy with conflicting nations without first consulting with national diplomacy, especially when it comes to Iran, a state designated and sanctioned for being a sponsor of terrorism.
