The Secretary of Homeland Security under the Trump administration, Markwayne Mullin, confirmed that the radical Muslim congresswoman Ilhan Omar married her brother and committed immigration fraud, which could lead to her deportation from the United States.

Mullin shared this information in an interview with conservative influencer Benny Johnson. "We know she married her brother to try to bring him to the United States," the high-ranking official stated. "We know he now lives in London," he said referring to the ex-husband of Omar.

Mullin added that the investigation could uncover "illegal activities" by the Democratic congresswoman that could result in her deportation from the United States. "There may be more to this, all the family migration and possibly some illegal activity for them to come to the United States to begin with," he asserted.

"This is what I want to make sure we do: if we really push a case forward, it’s not a political case, it’s a real case, because they did things wrong," Mullin clarified. "If you lied about certain things on your application, that doesn’t expire. If we can prove it —that you shouldn’t have been here in the first place— we will deport you."

Omar, who obtained U.S. citizenship through naturalization in 2000, has two ex-husbands, Ahmed Abdisalan Hirsi and Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, the latter being her brother, although she denies it. She legally married Hirsi in January 2018, a month after divorcing Elmi. The latter is a citizen of the United Kingdom and married the congresswoman in February 2009.

The Democratic Party member has described her relationship with Elmi as brief and claims they were separated most of the time, except between 2009 and 2011. There are no records of the two having children, and rumors that they are siblings have been circulating for years.

In 2019, for example, a local newspaper in Minnesota reported that an Instagram photo showed Elmi holding a newborn girl whom he referred to as his niece in June 2012, the same month and year Omar's youngest daughter was born. That photo was subsequently deleted. It is worth noting that marriage fraud is a federal crime punishable by up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
