The Trump Administration's Department of Homeland Security announced this Tuesday that more than 2,000 criminals were arrested —including undocumented immigrant murderers, rapists, pedophiles, drug traffickers, and violent offenders— as a result of "Operation Rotten Apple".

The government statement details that the successful operation took place from July 27 to August 29 and that a total of 2,197 undocumented immigrants were detained across the state of New York, many of whom are "murderers, rapists, pedophiles, drug traffickers, and violent offenders".

The document accuses New York's Democratic Governor, Kathy Hochul, and the city's communist mayor, Zohran Mamdani, of releasing more than 13,000 of these undocumented criminals from jail "to return to the streets of New York terrorizing innocent Americans".

In a press conference, U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security, Markwayne Mullin, stated: "Thanks to the hard work of the men and women of ICE and our federal partners, Operation Rotten Apple did what the sanctuary politicians of New York City and New York State refuse to do: it made the Empire State safer".

"The Trump administration is committed to protecting the American people in every city and every state, and we will not allow sanctuary politicians to stand in our way. If you are a state or local politician, your best option is to cooperate with us so that we can all make America safe again", said the official.

The border czar, Tom Homan, commented on the operation: "Operation Rotten Apple took some of the worst undocumented criminal immigrants off the streets of New York, including murderers, kidnappers, and rapists. ICE's efforts to eliminate threats to public safety in American communities have contributed to the largest decrease in violent crime in U.S. history".

Among those detained is Andreas Bernal Chiquito, an undocumented immigrant from Colombia whose criminal record includes arrests for abusing a 17-year-old girl and injuring her. Another apprehended individual is Carlos Mendez-Acosta, an illegal immigrant from Venezuela also convicted of rape.

"Mamdani signed an executive order turning New York City into a shield for violent undocumented criminal immigrants to re-offend and create more innocent victims", concludes the aforementioned statement, which denounces that Hochul prohibited local police departments from partnering and cooperating with ICE.
