Trump introduced Congressman Byron Donalds as his candidate for governor of Florida.

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, offered his support this Tuesday to representative Byron Donalds in the race to be the next governor of Florida, calling the Republican congressman a "total winner" who will advance the MAGA agenda.

On his social media platform Truth Social, Trump reiterated his support for Donalds, to whom he had already given his blessing before he entered the gubernatorial race. The president stated that the legislator is someone "highly respected" who has been "tested at the highest and most difficult levels," also highlighting his electoral victories in 2016, 2020, and 2024.

"I know Byron well [...] and he is a TOTAL WINNER!", expressed the president. "Byron Donalds will be a truly great and powerful governor for Florida, and he has my complete and total endorsement, HE WILL NOT LET YOU DOWN!".

The Republican mogul added that, as governor, Donalds will have "a great voice" to push policies such as border security, combating crime caused by illegal immigration, strengthening the armed forces, protecting veterans, promoting American energy dominance, reducing taxes and regulations, promoting "made in the USA" products, and defending the Second Amendment.

Trump's candidate is the clear favorite in the primaries

Donalds, a member of the Trumpist movement for years, seeks to succeed the current governor Ron DeSantis, who has a term limit and cannot run for re-election.

The late conservative leader Charlie Kirk, entrepreneur Elon Musk, most of Florida's sheriffs, 17 members of Florida's congressional delegation, and many of the most prominent figures in the Republican Party nationally are the main supporters that Donalds has garnered since he announced his candidacy in February 2025.

These endorsements, along with Trump's repeated political sponsorship - whose candidates won easily in Indiana, Kentucky, and Georgia in recent weeks - have made Donalds the clear favorite in the Republican primaries, consistently leading the polls by wide margins.
