In an interview with Fox News aired on Tuesday night, President Donald Trump suggested that a ground invasion of Iran could be imminent and that the United States could take control of the strategic island of Jark, the epicenter of the Iranian regime's oil exports.
"Sometimes a ground campaign is needed, but we have other people who will do the ground campaign for us," Trump stated. The president also claimed that the bombing campaign against the Islamic regime, which resumed last week, "will continue until I say it's enough."
Everything seems to indicate that this new round of bombings is aimed at degrading the missile and drone capabilities of the regime in the Strait of Hormuz and its surroundings in preparation for an invasion of the island of Jark, a territory located in the northern Persian Gulf. "If we degrade them enough and deeply, I would do it," Trump hinted in the interview.
"As you know, we have already attacked the island of Jark two, even three times. I said: 'attack everything but the oil'. Just leave that small area starting from about 25 yards. Leave that small zone intact. Don't touch the oil, because I don't want that to affect the global economy," analyzed the head of state. "You know, it's an important part of the global economy, so we haven't touched it. At some point, we could do it, but I think it's unlikely."
