The Israeli Prime Minister said that the Old Continent has forgotten to defend “civilization” against “barbarism”

As part of the official Holocaust remembrance ceremony in Israel, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu delivered a speech — pre-recorded due to the security situation — in which he strongly criticized Europe and highlighted the role of Israel as a defender of the values of the free world.
Netanyahu said that Europe is today “affected by profound moral weakness”, warning that the continent is losing control over its identity, its values and its historical responsibility to defend civilization against barbarism.
In that regard, he argued that Israel not only defends itself, but also acts in defense of Europe, “which has forgotten so much since the Holocaust.”

The Prime Minister stressed that one of the central lessons that Europe should recover is the clear moral distinction between good and evil. As he explained, at decisive moments, this difference requires firm action, even resorting to war when the defense of life and fundamental values is at stake
.
In contrast, Netanyahu assured that Israel has not forgotten that historic responsibility. He stressed that, together with the United States and other international allies, the Jewish State is leading the defense of the free world against global threats. “Israel is on the front line,” he said.
Along these lines, the president referred to recent joint operations with the United States against strategic objectives in Iran, assuring that both countries have inflicted “a devastating blow” to the Iranian regime. According to Netanyahu, if they had not acted, facilities such as Natanz, Fordow, Isfahan and Parchin could have become symbols of horror comparable
to Nazi death camps.
The Prime Minister especially highlighted cooperation with President Donald Trump, calling it an unprecedented historic alliance. In the context of Holocaust Remembrance Day, he noted that these actions seek to prevent future generations from having to wonder with regret “what would have happened
if there were no action”.
The speech closed with a clear message: Israel will continue to take the necessary measures to guarantee its security and that of the free world, reaffirming its commitment to learn from history and act with determination in the face of existential threats.
