Another fake image of a child in Gaza: he was even treated in Israeli hospitals

The 14-year-old boy suffered from a neurological disease of genetic origin and in 2018 was a patient at an Israeli hospital

The Israeli government denied reports about the death by starvation of Abdul Qader al-Fayoumi, a 14-year-old Palestinian teenager.

Like so many others, his image went viral this week as an alleged victim of famine in the Gaza Strip.

However, according to the Coordination of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT), al-Fayoumi suffered from a neurological disease of genetic origin. That's not all: He was treated in Israeli hospitals in 2018!

In a post on its official English account on X, COGAT accused Hamas of using images of sick children to spread disinformation and blame Israel for the humanitarian situation in Gaza.

"Hamas is using photos of sick children to promote the 'famine' narrative and blame Israel. But the truth tells a different story," the agency stated.

COGAT noted that Israel has evacuated 180 Palestinian patients, along with their companions, to receive treatment outside the country since the beginning of the war.

"Meanwhile, Hamas cynically exploits them for its own distorted agenda, and part of the international media echoes it," the statement added.

This is the second time in the past week that Israel has publicly denied claims about alleged deaths from hunger in Gaza.

Earlier this week, the Israeli government indicated that another viral image, that of a five-year-old Gazan boy identified as Osama al-Rakab, was also misleading. The child suffers from a serious genetic disease unrelated to the conflict and is currently receiving medical treatment abroad.
