Trump's envoy to the Middle East arrived in Israel and met with Netanyahu

Steve Witkoff arrived in Jerusalem with the goal of achieving a ceasefire and ultimately freeing the hostages

President Donald Trump's special envoy for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, arrived in Israel at a time of growing tension in the negotiations to free the hostages in Gaza.

His visit, which included a private meeting with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, represents a new attempt to revive diplomatic efforts. However, it must be remembered that the only ones who oppose a ceasefire are the Hamas terrorists.

According to sources close to the meeting, the topics discussed included the deadlock in ceasefire talks, the fate of the Israeli hostages still held by Hamas, and the regional threat posed by Iran.

With no tangible progress on the horizon, Israeli authorities warned that if a meaningful agreement is not reached in the coming days, they may be forced to intensify military operations inside Gaza.

Meanwhile, President Donald Trump once again addressed the situation in Gaza, reaffirming his position with a direct message posted on Truth Social:
"The fastest way to end the humanitarian crisis in Gaza is for Hamas to SURRENDER AND RELEASE THE HOSTAGES."

With this statement, Trump made it clear that, in his view, the root of the humanitarian tragedy doesn't lie in Israel's actions, but in the persistence of a terrorist group that has turned its own population into a human shield and hostage to its ideology.

For the Trump administration, the solution lies in disarming Hamas, not appeasing it.

In his statements to the press this week, Trump acknowledged being deeply affected by recent images of children suffering in Gaza.

Nevertheless, he emphasized that the ultimate responsibility lies with the leaders of Hamas, not with the Israeli government. "We want to help, and we're helping, but other countries must also get involved," said the U.S. president, urging a coordinated international response, while keeping the origin of the conflict in mind.
