Cowards: Western powers boycott Israel's decision to advance on Gaza
Germany announced that it will suspend the sale of military equipment to Israel
The German government announced that it will suspend all exports to Israel of military equipment that could be used in the Gaza Strip.
The decision was communicated by Chancellor Friedrich Merz as a response to the plan approved by the Israeli security cabinet to expand military operations and take control of Gaza City.
In a statement, Merz indicated that the release of Israeli hostages and the negotiation of a ceasefire are Germany's main priorities, expressing "deep concern" about the suffering of the civilian population in Gaza.
According to the head of state, the intensification of the offensive decided by Israel "makes it increasingly difficult" to achieve those objectives.

According to figures from the German Parliament, between October 7, 2023 and May 13, 2025, export licenses for military material to Israel were approved for a value of 485 million euros.
The German reaction adds to a wave of international criticism.
Belgium summoned the Israeli ambassador in Brussels to express its "total disapproval" of both the plan to occupy Gaza City and the "colonization and intention to annex the West Bank." The Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that it "will firmly advocate" for the annulment of this decision.
The United Kingdom and Australia also urged Israel to reconsider.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer described the measure as "wrong" and warned that "it won't help end the conflict or free the hostages, but will bring more bloodshed." British Minister Miatta Fahnbulleh emphasized that the decision "could worsen an already intolerable and appalling situation."
Meanwhile, Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong reiterated the call for a ceasefire, for the unrestricted entry of humanitarian aid, and for the immediate release of the hostages held by Hamas.
Once again, Israel stands alone on the right side of history.
