Great Britain surrenders to radical Islamism and threatens to recognize a Palestinian state
PM Keir Starmer intends to blackmail Israel with recognition, following in France's footsteps
British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer announced that the United Kingdom will unilaterally recognize a Palestinian state in September, unless Israel takes "substantive steps to end the appalling situation in Gaza."
In a decision that demonstrates just how much British policy has begun to bow to internal and external Islamic pressure.
This ultimatum—which will come just before the UN General Assembly—marks a shift in the historic alliance between London and Jerusalem, and represents a political gift to Hamas, the very terrorist group Starmer claims to condemn.
While he declares his "unconditional support" for the efforts of the United States, Qatar, and Egypt to achieve a ceasefire, Starmer adds a barely veiled threat: if Israel doesn't yield—that is, if it doesn't renounce its legitimate defense, doesn't publicly rule out annexation in Judea and Samaria, and doesn't accept a military withdrawal from Gaza—then the United Kingdom will move forward with the recognition of Palestine.

This recognition, far from being a gesture of peace, constitutes a political reward for Hamas at a time when the organization refuses to release Israeli hostages and continues to use Gaza's civilian population as human shields.
Despite declaring that "Hamas must never be rewarded," Starmer conditions the diplomatic future of the region on unilateral steps that completely ignore the brutality of October 7 and the risk posed by Hamas's continued existence as a political or military actor.
The Israeli Foreign Ministry was quick to respond harshly: "Israel rejects the statement by the United Kingdom's prime minister. The change in the British government's position, at this time, following the French move and under internal political pressures, constitutes a reward for Hamas and harms efforts to achieve a ceasefire and a framework for the release of hostages," it stated.
This is not just about the United Kingdom.
France had already announced its intention to recognize Palestine, and now London is following its example, pressured by its growing Muslim minority, massive pro-Palestinian demonstrations, and a Labour left that increasingly feels more comfortable flirting with anti-Israel narratives.
The United Kingdom, under Starmer's leadership, is not recognizing a Palestinian state out of conviction or due to real progress on the ground, but for political calculation.
It is a capitulation to the pressure of interest groups and a strategy of appeasement in the face of radicalism.
The price will be paid not only by Israel and its right to defend itself, but also by Europe itself, which continues to undermine its own moral authority by rewarding terrorism with diplomacy.
